Our services

Satink combines craftsmanship, modern facilities and careful quality control for the blasting, treatment and protective coating of industrial components and structures.

Abrasive blasting

Abrasive blasting removes rust, mill scale and old coatings and gives the surface the right profile for the next step. Depending on the material and application, we use steel grit, corundum or glass bead.

Thermal metal spraying

Thermal metal spraying applies a layer of zinc or aluminium to the blasted surface. This metallic layer forms part of the selected protective coating system and contributes to corrosion protection.

From arrival to delivery

One integrated industrial treatment process

The activities are grouped into preparation, surface treatment and completion. The required steps depend on the component and project specification.

Handling and preparation

Careful preparation and internal handling form the basis of a controlled treatment process.

Internal handling and transport

Components can be moved internally using suitable lifting and transport equipment. Practical options depend on dimensions, shape, centre of gravity and handling characteristics.

Manual cleaning and degreasing

Components can be manually cleaned and degreased before further surface treatment.

Masking and capping

Areas that must not be treated can be carefully protected, masked or capped.

Surface treatment

Treatments are matched to the component, substrate, next process step and project specification.

Abrasive blasting

Blasting with steel grit, glass bead or corundum as preparation for further treatment or as the required finish.

Thermal metal spraying

Thermal metal spraying applies a metallic layer of zinc or aluminium to the blasted surface as part of the protective coating system.

Filling and sealing

Where required, surfaces and joints can be prepared using appropriate filling and sealing methods before the selected coating system is applied.

Protective coating and industrial wet painting

Coating systems can be applied in climate-controlled spray booths and are selected according to substrate, environment, exposure, specification and required service life.

Completion and assurance

Completion, inspection and reporting are carried out in line with the project specification and agreed requirements.

Packaging

Depending on the project and agreed requirements, treated components can be prepared or protected for internal handling, storage or onward transport.

Quality control and reporting

Inspections, measurements and reporting are performed when required by the product specification, coating system, customer requirements or project agreements.

Internal handling

Internal handling capabilities

Satink has equipment for internally moving and positioning a wide range of components.

12-tonne forklift

Several 3-tonne forklifts

Transport trolleys with capacities up to 18 tonnes

2-tonne and 3.2-tonne cranes

Practical options depend on the dimensions, shape, centre of gravity and handling characteristics of the component.

Protective coating and industrial wet painting

Coating systems matched to the application

The system is selected according to substrate, environment, exposure, specification and required service life. Suitability is always assessed for each project.

Climate-controlled spray booths

Coating systems can be applied under controlled conditions.

Corrosivity categories C1 to C5 and CX

Depending on the application and project specification, Satink can apply coating systems selected for corrosivity categories in accordance with ISO 12944. The exact classification and suitable system are confirmed for each project.

Specialist coating systems

Satink can apply heat-resistant systems and suitable systems for potable-water-related applications, subject to product specifications and project requirements.

Two-component coating products

Two-component coating products are commonly applied.

Quality control and inspections

Measurement, inspection and reporting

Satink carries out many inspections in-house using calibrated measuring instruments. The inspections and measurements performed depend on the product specification, coating system, customer requirements and project agreements.

  • Temperature and dew-point measurement
  • Blotter test
  • Chloride test
  • Dust test
  • Surface-roughness measurement
  • Wet-film thickness measurement
  • Dry-film thickness measurement
  • High-voltage porosity testing
  • Wet-sponge porosity testing
  • Hardness test
  • Bend test
  • Through-cure assessment
  • Cross-cut test
  • Pull-off adhesion test
  • Consolidated inspection reporting

When required by the project, independent external inspectors can be engaged, for example inspectors holding relevant NACE or FROSIO qualifications.
